The silent disease. Are you at risk?


As you are aware osteoporosis is known as the silent disease because very often there arenít any symptoms. Decreases in bone mass effect millions of people nationwide. The statistics are staggering. Some risk factors such as age, gender, body type, ethnicity, and family history Cannot be changed. We Can change other risk determinants such as exercise, smoking, alcohol, caffeine, low body weight, lack of vitamin D, and medications.





Participants will receive direct one on one instruction from a licensed physical therapist. Time is taken to determine the fitness level and to discuss appropriate goals for each individual. Each session is tailored to the fitness level and goals of each individual to help ensure the appropriate lifestyle changes are successfully maintained upon completion of this program. Follow up or maintenance appointments can be arranged to help ensure a successful outcome for each individual.


Midlife offers an opportunity to maintain healthy bones. Weight bearing and strength training activities can help form stronger bones. Eastern Monmouth Physical Therapy L.L.C. offers a full educational and exercise program for individuals who may be at risk of osteopenia or osteoporosis. This program will provide an overview of current medications, diet and a fall prevention outline. Emphasis will be placed on providing each participant with a complete orthopaedic evaluation. Results of this evaluation will be utilized to develop a personal exercise prescription for strength training, posture education and balance activities.
